Guwahati / Agartala: Bangladesh is fast emerging as a terror hub, with Pakistani terrorist groups joining hands with those in Bangladesh and India is facing a new security challenge.

After the bomb blasts in both Guwahati and Mumbai, the Assam police is seriously examining the Bangladesh terror connection.

Says IGP Special Branch, Assam police, Khagen Sharma, "We are more concerned about increasing militancy from fundamentalists as compared to ULFA."

In particular the Assam Police is investigating into the actvities of the Bangladeshi outfit, Harkut-Ul Jihad. The Harkut-Ul Jihad Islami allegedly offers training in the use of explosives, even providing ready to use bomb kits to terrorists.

"The explosives are being given to these militant groups by some foreign agencies. Some of the bombs are assembled bombs and while some need to be assembled and for that personnel have to be trained. That is why some groups have send their cadres to Pakistan," says Khagen Sharma.

Security agencies find it tough to police the large Bangladeshi migrant population in India. Individuals couriering explosives, even terror operatives do often slip through.

The arrest of Bangladeshi nationals after the October 2005 Delhi blasts points to their involvement in terror activities in India.

With the tightening of security on the Pakistan border export of terror from Bangladesh has become more than real.

While India's northeast has been a victim of Bangladesh's terror network its extension to other parts the country has now become a distinct possibility.
