Mumbai: Close on the heels of the detention of popular Indian disc jockey Aqeel, the Managing Director of a leading event management company was held at Dubai Airport on the charge of possessing drugs, television channels reported on Wednesday night.
They said Harinder Singh, Managing Director of Percept Holdings, was detained along with two others on Tuesday for allegedly carrying 'ecstasy' drugs.
Singh's company, Percept, has produced films like Corporate, Pyar Mein Twist, Pyar Mein Kabhi Kabhi, Traffic Signal, MP3 and Dor. The company is also involved in advertising and public relations.
Aqeel, who was held at the same airport on Sunday for allegedly possessing drugs, continued to be in police custody on Thursday and he was yet to get bail.
His lawyer Ashish Mehta said he had been told by his client that 0.06 gram of ecstasy was found in his bag.
Aqeel had gone to Dubai for a radio programme on June 3 and his wife reached Dubai later. The popular DJ had arrived in Dubai on Sunday to play at a discotheque, but his detention prevented him from performing before his many local fans here.
Aqeel's wife Farah Khan claimed that he did not use drugs and alleged that "somebody must have planted" the contraband in his bag. She said some 'ecstasy' drug was found in his bag.
Aqeel, who was travelling alone, was subjected to a body search by Dubai airport authorities. Dubai authorities said they had prior information from Mumbai about the contraband being allegedly carried by Aqeel.
