India feels the heat, Simla simmers at 27Ãï¿

CNN-IBN

New Delhi/Jaipur: The mercury is on an upward swing across India sparing not even the hilltowns like of Simla in Himachal Pradesh which recorded recorded its hottest day this summer at 26.6 degrees.

Una, another hill station was scorching at 40 degrees.

In Maharashtra, Nagpur and Amravati touched 45 degrees making the Vidarbha region one of the hottest in the country.

The situation gets no better elsewhere in Rajasthan where Barmer recorded country's highest temperature at 44.5 degrees.

The heat wave has already claimed two lives in Dholpur district. While the state government has changed the school opening timings from 10 am to 7 am, despite repeated requests from parents, schools affiliated to CBSE have not followed suit.

Schools in Udaipur, though, have agreed to do away with ties

“I asked students if they were uncomfortable wearing ties. Most of them said yes, hesitatingly. So I announced ties were compulsory no more,” says Principal, MMPS, Prashant Vashishtha.

But students aren’t really complaining with most looking forward to their favourite summer-time activities.

“I want to have ice Creams, go swimming and sleep in the AC,” says one.
