New Delhi: After Harvard, it's the turn of world's premier business school Oxford to be setting-up a business research center in India.
Just months after Harvard business school set up its research center in India, Oxford has announced its plans to set up Said Business School, Oxford’s business research center in India.
The center will explore various emerging sectors like infrastructure and retail. It also plans to study successful business models from Indian companies like Infosys.
"There are things happening in Indian business today that are not happening anywhere else in this world. We need to see what is the determinacy of this learning and then take that to other countries," Dr Tarun Ramadorai Executive Said Business School said.
The center, which is expected to come up next year, will cost 10 million pounds. Oxford is in talks with corporates in India and UK to gather funds for the project.
"Its the corporate community that we are really interested in. They can bring in finance and can offer critical intellectual contribution. Oxford could do this centre on its own but its going to be much more effective and powerful if we include the corporates into it," said Oliver Shiell Development Director, Said Business School.
Its is expected that by the following year, the Said Business School, (affiliated to Oxford University) will have close to 25 percent of its students coming from India.
Through this research center the management school intends to increase their interaction with the Indian corporates who they see as potential recruiters.
