India land lost to China along LAC

After CNN-IBN reported on consistent threats of Chinese army on locals in Ladakh, the inevitable fear has happened. India has lost vast tracts of land to China along the line of actual control (LAC).

Official reports available with CNN-IBN clearly states that Chinese army over the years has occupied huge portions of land in Ladakh.

The report says that the China's Peoples Liberation Army in the past has threatened locals and also claimed Nagtsang areas in Phuktse airfield in 1984.

Similarly, Nakung and Lungansering areas where a part of the Indian territory till 1991 and 1992 respectively.

Chief Executive counselor, LAHDC, Chering Dorjay said, “They come in large numbers and they verbally threaten our people and there are instances when they physically assaulted our people. They actually burnt the tents of our nomads.”

The report also says that the Chinese army has been using the tactics of threatening locals in the Dorbuk sector since December 2008.

“We feel that Chinese army deal with us civilians directly. If they have any problem, they can raise the issue when they have flag meeting with army commanders. They can raise the issue through other channels such as the MEA,” said Dorjay

The state Chief minister Omar Abdullah has already said that it is matter of serious concern and that the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has to taken it up.

Abdullah said, “This is something that the Government of India needs to take up with the Chinese government and they need to find a solution to it. “

Experts feel that the aggressive neighbor needs to be dealt with a clear policy from the Indian side.
