New Delhi: Given its size, it could almost be part of an alien invasion. And the world's biggest airplane – the Airbus A-380 - comes equipped with some out-of-the world luxury.

The most ambitious civil aircraft program ever, A380 is the world's largest plane by a long way and the first double deck passenger aircraft, capable of packing in 853 travellers.

With a fuel capacity of over 3 lakh litre, it can travel non-stop for 15,000 km.

“We're very glad that this beautiful airliner has landed at the Delhi international airport. We had made special provisions for this landing,” said Associate vice president, Corporate communication, Delhi international Airport, Arun Arora.

And certainly, it was a historic day for the New Delhi international airport. What was striking about the landing was that the demonstration pilot took about half the runway for an aircraft that size.

Kingfisher has ordered five A380s, which are likely to hit Indian skies in 2010. But at present, Delhi, Mumbai and Kochi are the only airports with runways big enough for this giant.

The super Jumbo A380 will be in Delhi for the next two days where it will be displayed in front of prospective buyers and Airbus is hoping there will be many.

SKYWARDS: People look on as an Airbus A380 prepares to land at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

This high capacity, long-range twin deck aircraft is about to redefine the way we fly.

THE INSIDE STORY: This high capacity, long-range twin deck aircraft will redefine the way India flies.
