Praful Patel says India safest to fly in

CNN-IBN

New Delhi: Kingfisher Airlines flight to Mumbai with Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel and Agriculture Sharad Pawar on board was forced to return shortly after takeoff from the New Delhi International Airport after a smoke warning signal went off.

The Director General of Civil Aviation told CNN-IBN the jet exhaust leaked into the AC duct and was seen by the flight crew shortly after take off.

This is the second such incident for Kingfisher. Last week a similar smoke warning resulted in the pilot aborting a flight at the Shamshabad airport in Hyderabad.

However, this doesn’t seem to bother Patel much. In an interview to CNN-IBN's Karan Thapar, Patel said India is globally rated one of the safest countries to fly in.

Here’s an excerpt from the interview:

Praful Patel: The international safety organisation conducts a safety audit of every member state of the world.

Karan Thapar: What did they say about India?

Praful Patel: About India, people will not believe it. We are rated amongst the safest countries of the world, more than many developed country you would know of.
