New Delhi: Once Upon a Timezone, written by Neelesh Misra does have a fairy-tale ring to it and a happy fairy-tale ending too. But the story is set in a modern-day castle - a call centre.

"Much more than a call centre story, it's about overcoming prejudice, chasing your dreams, universal feeling of falling in love," Neelesh Misra said.

The main character Neel Pandey is in love with all things American, but has to settle for a job pretending to be an American.

When asked if the name Chetan Bhagat, author of One Night @ a Call Centre rings a bell, Neelesh said, "I’ve not read the book. It was an idea waiting to be done. I can tell you the day I read about his book was not a very happy day for me because you know you want your book to explore territories that have not been done before."

However, like call centre employees, juggling identities is something Neelesh does identify with.

He has come a long way from being a journalist with a leading national daily, to writing non-fiction to writing Bollywood songs and scripts.

"My debut song was jadoo hai nasha hai the latest song was in Woh Lamhe - Kya Mujhe Pyaar Hai. I believe it's also become a hit and that’s exciting," Neelesh said.

There's already domestic and foreign interest in making a movie based on Once Upon a Timezone, and Neelesh already has a name in mind for his favourite character.

"I would really see a Sanjay Dutt doing a Rocky Randhawa, am actually writing a film called Alibag with Sanjay. So if a movie is made that would be great," Neelash says.

With an official launch at the Frankfurt Book Fair, followed up by a launch in London, it looks like Neelesh is set to enjoy his latest role as a novelist.
