New Delhi India had to be content with sixth place at the World Junior Squash Championship after they were defeated 2-0 by Germany at Palmerston North, New Zealand, on Friday.
In the opening match, Simon Rosner, one of the top 75 players in the world, gave a squash lesson to Sandeep Jangra.
He was too tight and quick for the Indian, winning comfortably.
Rosner thus laid to rest the ghosts of two years ago, when he was serving 8-6 match ball against Saurav Ghosal but the Indian managed to pull through.
India had gone on to narrowly defeat the Germans 2-1 to claim fifth place then but Rosner did not let that happen this time.
Naresh Kumar was in total control of the match against Florian Silbernagl winning the first two games before his left-handed opponent raised his game.
The German picked up every ball and hit some excellent volley drops to level the scores at 2-2.
Naresh went stroke for stroke against Silbernagl in the decider but at 8-6, he was unable to clinch the final point and the German came back to settle the tie in his team's favour.
Results: Sandeep Jangra lost to Simon Rosner 2-9, 0-9, 0-9. Naresh Kumar lost to Florian Silbernagl 9-7, 9-1, 2-9, 4-9, 8-10.
