London: India's women archers failed to impress in the London Olympics qualification at Lord's on Friday. World number one Deepika Kumari finished eighth with 662 points in 12 rounds, while Bombayla Devi and Chekrovolu Swuro finished 22nd and 50th respectively to take India to a ninth-placed finish.
Korea claimed the top spot after great performances from Bo Bae Ki and Sung Jin Lee, who shared the top spot on 671 points each. USA came in second, while Chinese Taipei ended third.
The Indian team went into the event as number two in the world but their performance was below par. They will now play eighth-placed Denmark in the qualification.
Earlier in the day, India’s men’s team of Jayantha Talukdar, Tarundeep Rai and Rahul Banerjee also disappointed with a 12th-placed finish.
