Pokhran: Far from the damaging allegations of bribery in the VVIP helicopter deal, India's political brass assembled at Pokhran on Friday to witness the first Air Force day-night firepower demonstration named 'Iron Fist'.
Among other firsts, the weaponised Light Combat Aircraft was seen in action and the light combat helicopter Rudra. All this being choreographed from thousands of feet above.
A spectacular night-time air defence display wound up the day's show but there was one discordant note. Defence Minister AK Antony's planned interaction with the media was cancelled evidently to avoid more awkward questions about the AgustaWestland affair.
