New Delhi: The year 2008 belonged to an actor who managed to gather critical and commercial acclaim like none other. Multi-faceted, highly-talented and with a huge fan following.

This star has slowly but surely changed the rules of the game in Bollywood and that's why Aamir Khan - actor, producer and filmmaker is the CNN-IBN Entertainer of the Year.

Though the story of little Ishaan's struggle with dyslexia didn't make it to the Oscar race, it's a tale that has touched over a million hearts.

Released towards the end of 2007, Aamir Khan's directorial debut Taare Zameen Par continued its dream run in 2008 collecting several awards and matching it with commercial success as well.

2008 also saw Aamir Khan mentor and launch his nephew Imran Khan in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na.

Jaane Tu… worked wonders at the box-office and made debutant Imran Khan an overnight star… and a lot of credit for that goes to the time the producer -uncle Aamir spent relentlessly marketing and publicizing the film before it's release.

In between all this the actor also lent his name to the Atithi Devo Bhava campaign initiated by the Indian government without charging a fee!.

But the actor's best yet as far as television commercials go has to be this campaign for a DTH service and we're sure only Aamir could've pulled that off.

And finally before the year ran out Aamir gave us Ghajini - an action packed entertainer which set new box-office records - over Rs 200 crore and still counting!
