Indian student shot dead in US store

New Delhi: An Indian student was murdered in the United States on Christmas morning. 22-year old Jayachandra Elaporalu from Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh was shot dead during a store robbery at a gas station. He was doing a masters course and was also working at a convenience store in Pasadena.

Telugu Association of North America (TANA) President Komati Jairam told, "On July 26, he went to the US. He was studying for MS. He had just completed one semester. He had holidays till January 26. He was working part time at a gas station."

Pasadena police spokesman said and, "The victim was struck five times and there was five rounds in the door of the store room, behind the cash register. That certainly is no demonstration of mercy or even giving the victim the opportunity to cooperate."

This murder comes close on the heels of a string of murders of students of Indian origin from Andhra Pradesh.
