Los Angeles: Indian vocalist Bombay Jayashri, who was nominated in the best original song category at the 85th Academy Awards for her track 'Pi Lullaby' from 'Life of Pi', lost the trophy to British singer Adele, who took home the statuette for 'Skyfall'. However, 'Life of Pi' won the best music - original score award.
Written and sung by Jayashri, "Pi Lullaby" was also competing with other numbers like "Before my time" from "Chasing Ice" (music and lyrics by J. Ralph, "Everybody needs a best friend" from "Ted" (music by Walter Murphy; lyrics by Seth MacFarlane) and "Suddenly" from "Les Miserables" (music by Claude-Michel Schonberg; lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer and Alain Boublil).
Adele, who performed "Skyfall" at the glitzy ceremony Sunday night, collected her award with Paul Epworth.
