New Delhi: When Aishwarya Rai gave birth to a baby girl on November 16, 2011, it almost became national news. While some were eagerly waiting to know her name, others started circulating Aishwarya Rai's morphed pictures with the baby. For months, the Bachchans were busy denying reports about Beti B being named Abhilasha and their plans of selling her pictures like many Hollywood celebrities.
Many people expected Aaradhya to make her first public appearance in May at the Cannes Film Festival. Aaradhya accompanied her mom to Cannes, but Aishwarya managed to hide her face from the photographers. Many claimed that she will feature on Oprah Winfrey's show with Abhishek and Aishwarya, but it didn't happen. From Lara Dutta, Celina Jaitly to Shilpa Shetty, so many Bollywood actresses gave birth lately. However, everybody was so impatient to see Aishwarya's daughter.

Aishwarya Rai gave birth to a baby girl on November 16, the first child for the former Miss World and her actor husband Abhishek Bachchan.

An upset Aaradhya Bachchan is seen crying as dad Abhishek tries to pacify her.

Dad Abhishek Bachchan tries his best to calm down Aaradhya.

Though the family kept Aaradhya away from media glare, the shutterbugs managed to click her on a number of occasions - the recent being at a function where Aishwarya was honoured by the French Government.

Abhishek and Aishwarya got married in 2007 and welcomed their first child on November 16 last year.

Post the grand birthday bash of Amitabh Bachchan, it's now Aaradhya's turn to indulge as she turns a year old November 16.

Abhishek said a child's birthday is special for the mother as well because the mother spends so much time with them and takes care of them.

This picture of Aaradhya was doing the rounds of the media on September 19, as the first close-up of her face, in the arms of her mother who has so far been very careful of covering her up from the tip of her hair to her tiny toes.

A protective Aishwarya always wears a strap to hold Aaradhya wherever she goes. She is mostly dressed in pink.

Some time earlier, this picture cropped up, that showed her a closeup of her face, including her eyes. It seems she has daddy Abhishek's eye colour.

Amitabh Bachchan's 70th birthday on October 11 saw the family organising a big bash where several celebrities from Bollywood, south film industry, politicians and business tycoons had come to wish the megastar.

Bollywood's most celebrated child Aaradhya Bachchan became the favourite subject of the shutterbugs from the day she was born.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan says it will be a private affair for Aardhya's first birthday celebration.

For Aaradhya's first Diwali, the Bachchans had both friends and family over at their place but for her first birthday, they plan to keep it a private and family affair with just family and Aishwarya's parents.

The Bachchans have been fiercely guarded about the latest member of their family ever since she was born.

Having been blessed with a daughter in November last year, doting father Abhishek Bachchan says he is thrilled that little Aradhya is the focus of everyone's attention.

Fans and the media have been eager to catch a glimpse of Abhishek and Aishwarya Bachchan's baby Aaradhya but the new father says his daughter is not an "item to be displayed".

Abhishek says that he and his actress wife want to give a normal childhood to the baby and would not show her in public.

Apparently Jaya Bachchan calls Aaradhya 'strawberry'.

Abhishek says he now has one more reason to rush back home. He is a family-oriented person and both his parents and his wife also are.

Everyone in the Bachchan household is fascinated with Aaradhya, Abhishek recently said in an interview.

Abhishek said he is willing to do anything for her. He is earning money so that he can give her a good education and upbringing.

The media frenzy over her daughter Aaradhya notwithstanding, Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan says she does not want the little girl to 'get hassled'.

'She is too small and new to this world. I did not want her to get hassled. It was just a natural instinct of being protective,' said Aishwarya Rai asked about being a protective parent.

This was the first photo of baby Aaradhya being brought home from the hospital.

Thanks to her surname, Aaradhya has become the youngest Bollywood celebrity as people want to know every detail about her.
Aishwarya used to cover her face every time she was snapped with Aaradhya. And then, Aishwarya Rai was seen shopping with her daughter in London. A Bollywood fan who got a chance to see the baby's face immediately tweeted that Beti B has brown eyes. This came as a disappointment for Aishwarya's fans who expected the baby to be Ash's replica.
Finally, after hounding Aishwarya Rai for almost ten months, a photographer managed to get a close up of Aaradhya at the airport while she was leaving for Chicago. The pictures became viral on the internet. Later, Aaradhya was seen at Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai's birthday parties as well. The series of insensitive comments about the baby were pretty shocking.
Many people called her ugly as she doesn't look like her mother. May be people have forgotten that she is just a one-year-old kid. Interestingly, Aaradhya has a Twitter account too, obviously it's fake.
When Aishwarya Rai was asked why she tried to hide Aaradhya's face from media, she replied, "I think it is the job of media to take pictures or bytes. But as a mother, as a family, we were just trying to be protective. She is too small and new to this world. I did not want her to get hassled. It was just a natural instinct of being protective."
Soon people will start guessing whether Aaradhya will become an actress or will chose a different profession. The best part is, she is just one and too young to understand all this. So no matter what the entire world thinks about her, Jaya Bachchan's 'Strawberry' is having a blast. The Bachchans really want the baby to have a normal childhood. However, going by the scenario so far, it seems really difficult.
Meanwhile, we wish a very happy birthday to Aaradhya Bachchan.
