It's India's style, we aren't agitated: Pak

Islamabad: Pakistan on Monday chose to downplay India’s allegations and strong reaction in the wake of Mumbai terror attack.

In an exclusive interview with CNN, Pakistan Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani said that India's allegations about the involvement of elements in Pakistan are merely a reaction in a troubled time.

“It is their (India’s) style. We will not get agitated. Let the proof come, only then will we give our reaction. They were in a state of anger in such a state they would have said something,” he said.

Gilani also assured tensions between two countries won’t escalate. “It's a misperception that there are parallel governments (in Pakistan). There is nothing of this sort. We will see India’s allegation and then decide the level of cooperation. Tensions will not escalate,” he said.

On Monday evening, the Ministry of External Affairs called the Pakistani High Commissioner in Delhi to make its first direct demand of handing over suspects responsible for the Mumbai attacks.

Sources tell CNN-IBN, they also told Pakistan to hand over Dawood Ibrahim and Masood Azhar.

Asked if the reaction was mounting pressure on Pakistan, Dawn news correspondent said, "The meeting and the briefing by the DG ISI and the foreign and defense ministers was scheduled much before the Mumbai attacks. So after the terror attack the situation has dramatically changed.

The opposition members of the parliamentary committee on national security were of the opinion that they will ask the ministers concerned that what fallout Pakistan may face after Mumbai terror attack.

Tension is mounting between the two countries and Pakistan is facing a lot of pressure. Whether Pakistan will be in a position to move its troops position from west front to the eastern side of the border in case tension grows between the two countries.

An all party conference has been convened by the prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani at the his house on Tuesday. Information minister Sherry Rahman said that when the list is received by Pakistan, they would definitely take it up with the Indian authorities concerned."
