New Delhi: Slamming all reports that she is leaving India, Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen on Monday told CNN-IBN that she considers India her second home and intends to stay on.
"I have come here to stay. I consider India my second home. The news being given out that I am leaving India is not true," Taslima, who turned 46 on Monday, said.
The reports said that Taslima, who returned to India from Sweden early in August, was likely to leave the country again for some destination in Europe as her movement was being restricted due to security concerns.
The author has been living in exile since 1994, after her book Lajja faced opposition from Islamic fundamentalists
The Union government on last Sunday extended the visa of Taslima, who was bundled out from West Bengal in November in 2007, by six months.
The request of the controversial writer for a permanent residency in the country was being examined and no decision had been arrived at as yet, the sources close to the writer said.
