New Delhi: The nation saw shocking pictures of moral policing from the same cops who were expected to check such incidents on Valentines Day.
This sub-inspector publicly beat up a couple in Haryana's Jind and even dragged the girl to the police station by her hair. Later, on reaching the police station he could not figure out what charges to press, so he meted out more punishment. The cop has now been suspended.
“The SI has been suspended, Dept enquiry is opened to be conducted by the DSP, complaint was filed for abuse of power and misbehaviors with the woman are the charges. The couple is ok and sent home the inspector has committed a grave mistake and will have to face the music, this is an isolated case where police official involved and for that he will have to face the music,” SP, Jind.
Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh saw a brother and sister face the ire of the moral police. Bajrang Dal activists brutally assaulted them assuming them to be lovers.
Police posted at the university campus rushed in and brought the situation under control; however no FIR has been registered
“My sister and I had come to the University for some work and left from the front gate. They saw me and slapped me a couple of times,” says the victim.
In Pune, Shiv Sainiks forcibly married off two couples sitting in a park. Reports say other couples present in the park managed to escape before they faced a similar fate.
While in Sangli the Sainiks seemed to think love is frankly asinine, so they married off this young man to a donkey.
In Ranchi, the moral brigade made young Romeos to sit ups as punishment for love.
If St Valentine was watching India from up above, he wouldn't have been a happy man.
