Montreal: Kimveer Gill - the 25-year-old Indian-Canadian who went on a deadly shooting rampage at Dawson College in Montreal on Wednesday - loved guns, hated people and suspected police were watching him. Police described him as a man obsessed with weapons, violent video games and the Goth subculture.

Gill - dressed in a black trench coat like the Columbine shooters - killed an 18-year-old woman and wounded 19 others before, police claim, dying of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. "He put his own gun to his head and pulled the trigger during a shootout with officers at Dawson College," police said.

Initial reports soon after the incident said Gill was shot and killed by police after he went on a shooting rampage at the 10,000-student Dawson College.

Gill had posted pictures of himself on the Internet with a rifle and said he was feeling 'crazy' and 'postal' and was drinking whiskey hours before the attack.

The man also said on a blog that he liked to play a role-playing Internet game about the Columbine High School shootings in Colorado and wanted to die 'in a hail of gunfire'.

Gill's neighbour's description also reveal an angry, solitary young man who lived with his mother, sported a mohawk, dressed in black and was filled with hatred for everyone from jocks to preppies and everything from country music to hip-hop. He once worked for a carpet company and more recently an auto parts business.

One of his blogs, picked word for word by Reuters, reads:

    "World sucks...School sucks...Life sucks...What else can I say,

"It's everyone's fault for being so apathetic towards f...ing everything that doesn't affect them personally.

"I love guns. I really do. The great equalizer...wouldn't you say?

"F... the world and everything in it."

"The police are watching me. They actually think I don't know this. They are monitoring (sic) my movements."

"I wonder why my household has been under surveillance by law enforcement for 6 years now? Makes no sense to me!!"

"Let the blood flow. Let the streets run red with blood. Blood of mine enemies. HEIL HEIL HEIL"

"I am ashamed to be part of the human race. Especially people who make fun of the girls on VF (vampirefreaks.com)."

"The Punisher is one kick ass movie. Love the Trenchcoat."

"The RCMP and CSIS in Canada and Local Law enforcement and FBI in the States have been scouring this web site during the last 3 months. Looking to arrest you guys and girls for nothing."

While Gill's mom described him as a "good man", neighbours said he was a loner.

"He was a good man. Just ask anybody. Ask the neighbours. He was a good son," Gill's mother told AP.

A neighbour across the street said he was a loner. "There were never any friends," Louise Leykauf said. "He kept to himself. He always wore dark clothing."

Another neighbour, Mariola Trutschnigg, said she noticed a change in his appearance in recent months when he "started wearing a mohawk and black clothes".

In his blogs, Gill had put over 50 photos of himself in various poses holding a rifle or a knife and wearing a black trench coat and combat boots. One photo had a tombstone bearing his name and the epitaph: "Lived fast, died young. Left a mangled corpse."

According to Canadian newspaper La Presse, Gill made a new entry in his blog on the morning of the rampage, asking readers to listen to a heavy-metal number by Megadeth, whose refrain proclaims in French and English:

A Tout Le Monde (to everyone)
A tout mes amis (to all my friends)
Je vous aime (I love you)
Je dois partir (I must leave)
    These are the last words:
    I'll ever speak
    And they'll set me free

To a question posted on the website asking how Gill wanted to die, he wrote "like Romeo and Juliet or in a hail of bullets", La Presse reported.

Gill often raved about guns and against society. "Society disgusts me. It's the fault of everyone who does nothing unless it concerns them personally. (Expletive) you society," the newspaper quoted him as writing.
