Indore: The Madhya Pradesh Home Minister has ordered and inquiry into the incident wherein a youth bled to death in a police station in Indore as he was denied medical aid. Home Minister Uma Shankar Gupta has also assured that he will take strict action if anyone is found guilty.
Ordering the probe, the Home Minister said, "Strict action will be taken against those found guilty. I have ordered an enquiry. I am waiting for the report."
In the shocking story of police apathy, a youth, Ravi, bled to death in a police station in Indore. He was denied medical aid and bled for at least 40 minutes as the police insisted on recording his statement first.
Ravi and his friend had allegedly been stabbed in broad daylight by molesters who were harassing Ravi's sister. They were brought to the Rajendra Nagar police station after the incident was reported. When taken to the hospital, Ravi was declared brought dead.
Recalling the incident, Ravi's friend Ankit Agarwal said, "They were teasing his sister. He asked them to stop. They came back and attacked him later."
When asked, the police found it hard to explain it away, saying they had dialled "108" but the emergency services "took time to come".
