New Delhi: Infosys, one of biggest employers in the country has said that all general hiring in the company has come to a standstill as business has slowed down considerably.

Infosys' Director of Human Resources, Mohandas Pai says it will hire the marked 27,000 people they had already made the offers to and that there will be no further hiring for now.

Even the training of the newly hired employees will be extended beyond the four month period.

"We have hired people to whom we have made commitments. We are hiring only a few specialists. But general hiring has almost come to a standstill. So what is happening now is to make sure that all the commitments that we have made are honoured and people come in. We have also made sure that we extend our training. After people undergo the initial four months training, we are asking them to undergo another two months of training in another technology, in another language. We want to make sure that they become much more capable because we have a bench and utilisation is just about 74 per cent. We want to utilise people's times better and we are looking forward to better days," said Mohandas Pai, the Director of Human Resources at Infosys.
