Harris suffered the Achilles heel injury during the ongoing IPL 6 and was ruled out of the remainder of the season.
Allaying all fears that Ryan Harris is set for a long injury layoff, Cricket Australia on Friday said the 33-year-old will be fit for Australia's Ashes campaign, which gets underway on July 10.
Harris suffered the Achilles heel injury during the ongoing IPL 6 and was ruled out of the remainder of the season. He returned home for rehabilitation.
Harris, who was named in the 16-man squad earlier in the week, was said to have sustained the injury during Kings XI Punjab's game against Rajasthan Royals. He is expected to be out for six to eight weeks.
"The short of it is that we expect it to be a very minor complaint. The expectation is that he is in no doubt for the Ashes," a team spokesperson said.
"We're not expecting this to be a long-term injury. He just had to come home for a little bit of rehabilitation. We're very very confident that he'll be right."
The first Test between cricket's two oldest rivals will begin at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on 10 July. Lord's, Old Trafford, Chester-le-Street and The Oval will host the other four Tests.
