New Delhi: A press meet called by yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Saturday witnessed high drama when a man, allegedly upset over the Batla House encounter, threw black ink at his face.

Ramdev was addressing mediapersons on the issues of black money and corruption at the Constitutional Club in New Delhi on Saturday afternoon when the incident took place.

The man, identified as Kamran Yunus Siddiqui, threw black ink on the face of the yoga guru, following which he was caught by Ramdev's supporters and badly beaten up before the police arrested him.

"I have been shown black flags in the past but I did not consider them. I have devoted my life to the people. Throwing black ink on me will not change my nature," said Ramdev.

However, Mohammad Yunus Siddiqui, the brother of the arrested man, said it was not a planned attack.

"This wasn't a planned attack. My brother just wanted to ask a question, when he wasn't allowed to do so, he threw ink at Baba Ramdev," he said.

The ruling Congress, some of whose leaders have been at the receiving end of shoes being hurled at them in the past years, initially came out strongly against the incident, as did the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

However, soon, the old Congress warhorse Digvijaya Singh made a U-turn, adding yet another feather to his ever-increasing portfolio of controversial comments.

"I have earlier called Baba Ramdev a thug and he has turned out to be one. The attack on Ramdev is a conspiracy hatched by the RSS," said Digvijaya.

Ramdev had earlier announced that he would campaign against corruption and black money while targeting the Congress party in the five states getting ready for Assembly elections.

However, the big question is whether it will be part of Team Anna's campaign, which sources say, might begin in Uttar Pradesh from the first week of February.
