Inspector suspended in Mumbai rave party case

Mumbai: A night of revelry turned sour for more than 300 youngsters, as the police busted a rave party held at Mount view resort Khalapur, 2 hours away from Mumbai on Sunday night.

Deputy SP Nirmala Patil said, "there were various types of drugs around. The investigations are on."

The police seized a sizable quantity of marijuana, hashish, and even cocaine and ecstasy.

The party-goers reportedly a mix of young professionals and students had been invited through a social networking site - and are said to be from Pune, Mumbai and Thane. Most of them have been let off after medical tests, but the police arrested 4 people - reportedly the organisers of the rave, one of whom is absconding - and the other - a police officer Anil Jadhav - ironically from the Anti Narcotics Bureau in Mumbai.

Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil said, "the government has sent orders for suspension of Anil jadhav. Why he had gone there, we will look into this."

The accused, including the police officer, have granted police custody till July 2.
