Guwahati: Insurgency has been on the rise in Tripura where a jawan was killed and another injured in an encounter with terrorists on Wednesday.
Terrorists belonging to the banned National Liberation Front of Tripura had also butchered eight people including four women on November 10 belonging to the banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT).
Gayarung Reang lost three of her family members in the attack.
"First they came, took us on gun point, took my soon, took every one, and then started killing," says Gayarung Reang.
Seven Reang men had apparently snatched a rifle from an NLFT terrorist and then proceeded to surrender with it.
The attack was carried out to avenge what many believe was a fake surrender.
NLFT has always been in confrontation with the Reang tribe and the massacre is seen as a desperate bid for reassertion by the NLFT in the area
"People from here are moving to Santipur, a safer place, after the militant attack," says Banamali Reang.
Ahead of the Autonomous District Council elections in the state the attack has spread fear among the villagers in Pusparampara area of North Tripura.
