Bhubaneswar: In its bid to ensure smooth travel for working women and girl students, Odisha government has decided to roll out two special buses for women commuters between Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. "The special bus service for women will be launched on the occasion of the International Women's Day tomorrow," transport minister Subrat Tarai told reporters.
The initiative was taken in the wake of increase in the crime against women, particularly working women.
First such unique initiative is taken by the department of transport to facilitate safety and comfortable journey of the women, he said adding that women conductors will man the service. The government will subsequently appoint women drivers in the special bus, he said.
