Mumbai: Chintuji, that's the name of a new film featuring Rishi Kapoor in the lead.
“When I was born, my elder brother Randhir Kapoor used to learn a riddle. It went like this: chote se chintu miyaan, lambi si poonch, jahan jaye chintu miyan, wahan jaye poonch. It means needle and thread,” Rishi said.
And that riddle is the reason why Rishi was nicknamed Chintu. A name, that Rishi now shares with a film title and interestingly, he plays the lead in this new feature film. This debut feature by writer-turned-director Ranjit Kapoor revolves around a brat superstar called Rishi Kapoor and his political ambitions.
“The picture is part fiction and part fact. It is part reality, part illusion. It is a fact that I am Rishi Kapoor but whether am brat or not, that you have to figure out,” he said.
Rishi was last seen in Imtiaz Ali's Love Aaj Kal and Zoya Akhtar's Luck By Chance. But those of you who are still waiting for him to go behind the camera once again, here's what the actor has to say about it.
“If you guys are bored of me or am getting on your nerves then I might have to do something but am quite enjoying this phase of doing different kind of roles. There is nothing that inspires me to make a film again. I am only acting. I am not directing any film, please note and no further discussions on this,” he clarified once and for all.
For now you can catch him on the big screen, when Chintuji hits the theatres this Friday.
