New Delhi: A day after former hockey boss KPS Gill accused the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) of doing nothing for the sport, the body has responded with a flurry of announcements.
Harendra Singh, who had previously been named as the assistant coach has been promoted as the coach in-charge of the men's hockey team.
Harender has had a successful stint with the junior hockey team and led them to the Junior Asia cup title in 2004, but he lacks the experience of coaching at the top level.
He was assistant coach at the 2006 World Cup where India finished a lowly 11th and also at the Asian Games where India failed to qualify for the semifinals for the first time ever.
However there is still some confusion within the IOA as they have not yet named a National coach.
They have said they will also be appointing a foreign coach shortly but have not defined the roles.
