New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday became the first team to confirm their place in the IPL 6 play-offs starting May 21. The two-time winners beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 77 runs at Uppal to maintain their place on top of the IPL 6 leaderboard, and with 20 points have reached the final four.
CSK went into Wednesday's solitary match on 18 points (nine wins from 12 matches) but with the slim possibility of not qualifying. Had they lost their remaining four matches, they could have dropped down to fifth place on the points table. Now they have no need to worry.
The win over Hyderabad was a strong comeback considering CSK were bowled out for 79 in Mumbai on Sunday to lose by a whopping 60 runs.

Hyderabad's defeat leaves them on 14 points from 12 matches. With four to play - against Kings XI Punjab, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knigh Riders - the franchise must win all their matches to have a shot at the play-offs.
CSK have reached the knock-out stage of each IPL season. They won the title in 2010 and 2011.
