Kochi: As more details pour in about the IPL 6 spot-fixing probe, there is shock and dismay among cricket fans, especially in Kochi. The fans still can't believe that their boy, S Sreesanth, is involved.
Sreesanth, the man who was once Kerala's pride, may have let his team, his state and his profession down. But his family believes the troubled cricketer is innocent. In the wake of the spot-fixing scandal, his family said that he has been trapped.
Not just his family, Kerala's politicians, too, backed him initially with Congress leader Shashi Tharoor leading the way. "Only because of one incident we cannot generalise," Tharoor said.
But as the day wore on, the support he initially received from Kerala dwindled. Sreesanth may be innocent until proven guilty, but for a lot of those who looked up to him, the damage has already been done.
