New Delhi: Amid protests and political unrest in India on Tuesday over alleged war crimes in Sri Lanka, sources told CNN-IBN that players from the neighbouring country may miss the matches to be held in Chennai during season six of the Indian Premier League (IPL) that begins April 3.
Expressing its worry over the situation, the BCCI - said sources - may ask Sri Lankan players to stay away from the games in Chennai and could also send a memo on the issue to all the franchises. Eight of the nine IPL teams have Sri Lankan players in their squads.
It must be noted that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, J Jayalalitha, had cancelled Asian Athletics meet in February, saying Sri Lankan players would not be allowed in the state.
Chennai will be staging 10 matches in IPL 6.
