IPS officer Damayanti Sen transferred again

Kolkata: Senior woman IPS officer Damayanti Sen, who had cracked the sensational Park Street rape case, but was shunted out by the government, was on Monday transferred for the third time as DIG, CID in a major reshuffle of the IPS cadre.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Headquarters), Kolkata police, Jawed Shamim will now take over as DIG Jalpaiguri Range. Shamim will also take care of Darjeeling Range at a time when the hills are witnessing an agitation for a separate Gorkhaland state.

After Sen solved the Park Street moving car rape case, which took place early last year, she was shunted to the  post of DIG (Training) at the Barrackpore Police Training College.

She was again transferred as the DIG, Darjeeling Range, in a brief IPS reshuffle carried out in February this year.

In Monday's reshuffle, 28 senior police officials have either been promoted or transferred, a government notification issued in Kolkata said. Commissioner of Police, Barrackpore Police Commissionerate,

Sanjay Singh has been asked to take over as IGP, South Bengal.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Vishal Garg has been promoted as Commissioner of Police, Barrackpore Police Commissionerate.

IG, CID, Vineet Kumar Goyel was asked to take over as Commissioner of Police, Asansol-Durgapur Commissionerate, replacing Ajoy Kumar Nand who would take over as DIG, Midnapore Range.
