Iraqi police said a suicide bomber blew himself up as Zubaie left a mosque after Friday prayers.
He was injured in the stomach and shoulder and was undergoing surgery at a US military hospital. His condition was described as not stable.
Three people were killed and at least 10 others were wounded in a double suicide and car bomb attack near Zubayi's home, office and mosque close to the highly fortified Green Zone in central Baghdad Green Zone in central Baghdad.
