New Delhi: The rumours about the India launch of the much-awaited Nexus 4 smartphone (a Google-LG collaboration) have been doing the rounds for long, but neither Google nor LG has yet issued any official statement on this.
Previously, an LG executive had said during the Optimus Vu India launch that the company would come up with something big in Novemeber 2012. And in an interview with IBNLive, he confirmed that the Nexus 4 smartphone would arrive in India in November 2012. Though it did not happen, but it raised hopes and left the consumer space open to speculation.
Recently, a source, with information about the India launch plans of the Nexus 4, told us that Google and LG have been planning the launch of the Nexus 4 in India for a long time, and the phone might hit Indian markets in January. But now the same source has suggested that the delay in the launch is because Google and LG are debating over the price tag. They have not yet come to terms on whether to opt for the same price model at which Google introduced the phone in the US, or let LG determine the price of the new phone for the Indian market.

The delay in the launch of the Nexus 4 is because Google and LG are debating over the price tag, said a source.
It is plausible that LG, which is lagging behind in the smartphone race in India, has been defintely trying hard to launch the coveted Nexus 4 in India at a higher price - as the success is guaranteed. But it is also possible that the delays may finally lead to no India launch for the Nexus 4.
Last year, Samsung had ditched Indian consumers by scrubbing its plans to bring the Galaxy Nexus to India. Will LG do a Samsung to Indian consumers?
