Pakistan's ousted Supreme Court chief justice Iftikar Chaudhry is to appear before a five-member judicial panel set up to hear the allegations levelled against him.
Chaudhry was sacked by President Pervez Musharraf last week, sparking off violent protests across the country.
Musharaff had sacked Chaudhry saying that he had misused the powers of his office.
According to a report in the daily Dawn, opposition leaders have been arrested in midnight swoops across the country.
While security has been tightened across Islamabad ahead of the hearing, the Government has banned public gatherings outside the SC. Extra police force have been deployed at all entry points to Islamabad.
Saying says he will accept the council verdict, President Pervez Musharraf also confirmed that elections would be conducted by the year-end.
Chaudhry had appeared before the Supreme Judicial Council on Tuesday to present his four-page statement challenging the composition of the bench.
The Judicial Council has issued a notice to Musharraf to respond to the objections raised by the deposed chief justice.
