New Delhi: Amar Singh's political future remains uncertain even two days after he was expelled from the Samajwadi Party.
Amar Singh has got the backing of Jaya Prada, who was also expelled from the Samajwadi Party, Rajya Sabh MP Jaya Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt.
But politically Amar Singh may now be alone with the first indication coming from Mumbai where his protege and party's face in Maharashtra Abu Azmi remaining non-committal on joining the Amar bandwagon.
"Whatever decision has been taken by party leaders are acceptable to me. I am with my leader Mulayam Singh," says Azmi
Amar Singh though has managed to save his Rajya Sabha seat by inviting expulsion but the challenge before him is to remain politically relevant.
The wily Thakur from Uttar Pradesh is in no hurry to join a political party but he is for sure launching an apolitical front to harvest the Thakur and most backward caste votes.
But it will be risky proposition as Amar is neither a mass leader nor does he have Mulayam's organisational skills.
"I will not unnecessarily speak against Samajwadi Party leaders unless they decide to attack me the way they have been doing for the last one month," he says.
Quite clearly the once Mulayam's most trusted ally is willing to lie low and play the waiting game.
