New Delhi: The Income Tax department on Wednesday conducted raids on the offices and residence of cricketer Gautam Gambhir's family.
The raids were conducted on suspicions of tax evasion and undisclosed income.
Sources said that nearly half a dozen premises belonging to the Gambhir family were raided and a huge cache of "assets, income and investment details" were recovered.
The Gambhirs have business interests in and around Delhi, with the focus being on textiles and merchandise.
Gautam Gambhir, who is recovering after an injury, was said to be at home when the IT raids were conducted, but refused to comment on the issue, only saying that "there was a family problem," and that he could not talk to the media at the moment.
Simultaneous raids were also conducted on the premises of a builder in Delhi.
