New Delhi: It was a busy night for Income Tax officials, who conducted raids on property dealers in the Capital and neighbouring Gurgaon on Tuesday.
The owners of SPAZE Tower Builders — Harpal Singh, Dipak Kumar and Bipin Sharma — were the targets.
Their residences in Defence Colony and Sainik Farms in South Delhi and Rajouri Garden in West Delhi were raided through the night.
Their office on the MG Road in Gurgaon was also raided and cash and jewellery worth crores were allegedly seized along with land documents. Several imported cars were also recovered.
Meanwhile, Income Tax officials conducted raids on 15 establishments of tobacco dealers in connection with alleged tax evasion in Mumbai.
Confirming the raids to PTI here, a senior Income Tax official said, "The raids are being carried out since morning across the city including some places at Nariman Point in South Mumbai."
"The raids are still on and will continue till we reach logical conclusion," the official added.
Some 100 taxmen, including senior officials, were going through various documents, which have been recovered during the operation, he said.
When asked whether the authorities had come across any incriminating documents relating to the alleged tax evasion, the official refused to divulge details.
