'Ithra Mathram' is based on Kalpatta Narayanan's book

After a few decades as a respected critic, Prof. K Gopinathan is finally into his debut film as director. Titled 'Ithra Mathram', the shoot for the movie featuring Shwetha Menon, Biju Menon, Nedumudi Venu, Siddhique, Anoop Chandran, K P A C Lalitha, Rashi Bharadwaj, Gayathri, and Vinu Joseph is almost complete.

An adaptation of Kalpatta Narayanan's novel with the same title, the movie talks about the varied roles a person takes in life. Opening with the final ceremony of Sumithra, the movie is told in pieces as remembrances of various persons around about the departed. Cinematography is by K G Jayan, while Saloo K George is in charge of Art direction. The movie has music by Jaison J. Nair scores music for the songs in the lyrics of Rafeeq Ahmed.

Prof Gopinathan had earlier directed many documentaries and written many books, including the masterpiece, 'Cinemayum Samskaravum'.
