It's auto-combat mode in Thane

ibnlive.com

New Delhi: Lakhs of people commuting to and from Thane are in for some commuter trouble on Sunday as the auto rickshaw union in the township has declared an indefinite strike that begins on Saturday.

An approximate one lakh auto rickshaw drivers are to protest the immense pressure that they face in trying to get fuel to run their three wheelers.

The crunch faced by the drivers—as expressed by the auto rikshaw union of Thane— stems from the inadequate supply of CNG pumps in the area.

Presently, only four CNG pumps fuel the rickshaws of the district and what's worse is that these stations have no night service. And with the wait for fuel normally lasting for over 24 hours, the auto drivers rarely get to fuel the auto rickshaws on time.
