New Delhi: Scientists in Mexico are discovering the joys of tequila.
While the national drink is well known as an essential component of margarita, it has now been proved that it can be turned into diamonds too.
The Applied Physics and Technology Centre at the University of Mexico has successfully tested that tequila contains hydrogen, oxygen and carbon in the exact proportions needed to form diamonds.
While tequila has shown its versatile uses, scientists say it is unlikely to produce jewellery quality diamonds anytime soon.
