New Delhi: The big fat Indian wedding has just gone fatter with a splash of sheer opulence thrown in by the House of Valaya. So not only will the designer J J Valaya design your bridal wear, but your wedding as well.
The ace designer will now be a luxury-wedding planner.
“Bridal wear is just a big market and I wanted to do it,” says Valaya.
And Valaya had many fashion biggies to cheer him and his new start-up that was announced over the weekend in the capital.
“The wedding industry is a very big one. And it’s looking for more challenge that can fit into many more,” says designer Ritu Kumar.
Fashion Merchandiser Sunil Sethi adds, “If you want to do anything, it costs too much. It’s time that the Indian fashion designer found many avenues.”
When asked what lies ahead, Valaya said, “We are going to be opening a few stores, setting up a brand new design division, also looking at international undertaking.”
Valaya also showcased his autumn winter couture collection on the occasion. Impeccably cut sherwanis with fine detailing, his signature bridal wear and a colour pallete which threw up surprise with every garment. Out and out, a classic collection that redefined luxury. That’s the reason Valaya continues to be the king of couture.
