New Delhi: The Bandra Metropolitan Court in Mumbai issued a non-bailable arrest warrant (NBW) against film producer Ayesha Shroff, actor Jackie Shroff's wife, for repeated non-appearance in an obscenity case regarding the 2003-film Boom.
The complainant's advocate Nagesh Mishra said that the Additional Metropolitan Magistrate D A Joshi had issued the NBW against Shroff at their request.
She was reportedly absent from the last two hearings as well.
President of the NGO Bihari Ekta Manch, Parmanand Thakur, had filed a criminal complaint against Ayesha under the provisions of the IPC and Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act for certain allegedly obscene scenes in the film.
The film, revolving around the story of three Indian female supermodels who unwittingly get involved with the underworld, starred Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif, Madhu Sapre and Padma Lakshmi.
The next date for the hearing is June 16, but Ayesha can approach the court before that and get the warrant cancelled, Mishra said.
