New Delhi: Just days after converting to Islam, troubled pop singer Michael Jackson, now Mikaeel Jackson, has managed to reach an out of court settlement of £4.3 million.
The settlement was made with a Bahraini sheikh who was suing him over a breach of contract.
Prince Abdulla al-Khalif had allegedly signed a deal for an autobiography, two albums and a musical with Jackson and in return he gave the singer a Rolls-Royce worth £1,80,000.
They met after Jackson's acquittal on child-molesting charges in June 2005. The prince also bailed out Jackson's Neverland ranch. The sheikh had filed the case in London High Court.
Meanwhile, the singer said that there was no valid agreement, and the case was based on "mistake, misrepresentation and undue influence". He said the money paid by the sheikh - on utility bills for his Neverland ranch, accommodation and the legal costs of his criminal trial - was a gift.
Jackson's lawyers struck a deal with the sheikh who claimed the singer owed him $7 million. The settlement means Jackson will not be submitting evidence at London's High Court as was scheduled on Monday.
The settlement comes a few days after the 50-year-old musician reportedly converted to Islam, changing his name to Mikaeel, which means one of Allah's angels. According to The Sun, the 50-year-old musician, pledged his allegiance to the Koran in a ceremony at a friend's mansion in Los Angeles.
