Bangalore: Jagadish Shettar has been sworn in as the Chief Minister of Karnataka along with two Deputy Chief Ministers KS Eshwarappa, who is the state Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) President, and R Ashok. Shettar and his colleagues were administered the oath of office and secrecy by Karnataka Governor HR Bhardwaj in Bangalore on Thursday.
A total of 34 ministers were sworn in and all those named in former Lokayukta Santosh Hegde's report failed to get a place in the ministry. Some of the important leader inducted into the Cabinet are Basavaraj Bommai, CM Udassi, Suresh Kumar, SA Ravindranath, Visheshwar Kageri, Govind Kajrol and Umesh Katti.
The other leaders who have been inducted are: Shobha Kharandlaje, Murugesh Nirani, V Somanna, Bachegowda, DN Jeevraj, Renukacharya, SA Ramdas, Balachandra Jakhirholli, Revunaik Belmagi, Anand Asnotikar, CT Ravi, SK Bellubbi, Raju Gowda, Varathur Prakash, Sogadu Shivanna, Kalakappa Bandi, Srinivas Pujari, Anand Singh, Appachu Ranjan, BJ Puttaswamy, Aravind Limbavalli, Sunil Valyapure, CP Yogeshwar and A Narayanswamy.
The Karnataka BJP legislature party unanimously chose Shettar as their new leader in the presence of party's central observers Arun Jaitley and Rajnath Singh on Tuesday. Shettar is a loyalist of former Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa and the state's third chief minister in the past one year.
Shettar replaces DV Sadananda Gowda, who quit following a rebellion by Yeddyurappa and his supporters. Yeddyurappa was forced to resign after he was indicted by the state Lokayukta in the mining scam.
