CNN-IBN

New Delhi: The row over who is to succeed the late YSR Reddy as Andhra Pradesh chief minister rages on. Supporters demanding YSR's son Jagan be made the next CM are in Delhi, talking with the high command of Congress.

CNN-IBN's Smita Nair spoke to Andhra MP Sabbam Hari on the succession row. He said that all the MPs of the state unitedly want Jagan Mohan Reddy as the CM.

"There are no differences amongst the legislators. Unanimously, they passed a resolution. 100 per cent said they back, only three or four could not be present at that time," Hari said.

"Out of 155, not less than 145 legislators submitted a resolution to the High Command. They said that this is the time when not only Congress sympathisers, entire Andhra but seven crores of Andhra people are demanding we want Jagan as a CM," Hari added.

When asked if there is no one amongst the current leaders who has been around for more years in politics, Hari said that the acting CM Rosaiah himself seeks to be relieved of taking care of the post which is too much work at his age of seventy plus.

The Congress legislature party is expected to decide on the successor to the state CM's post soon.

Hari also refuted the possibility that Jagan's inexperience and young age may be an impediment.

He said Jagan has an idea of YSR's dreams for Andhra and said that Jagan be given a chance for the next four years and a little more. Hari said that if Jagan proves ineffective as CM, he may be asked to step down later.
