Mumbai: Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar and his lead actors from Jai Neil Nitin Mukesh and Mugdha Ghodse did an unusual promotion for their forthcoming film at a mall in Mumbai.
They got a mock jail cell built in the Oberoi mall in Mumbai's Goregaon suburb where three volunteers will spend two days in isolation without their loved ones, and more importantly without their mobiles.
But Neil pointed out that unlike his experience in Jail - the volunteers staying in the mall jail cell have it easy.
Bahuth hi achcha experiences tha, bohuth kuch seekha maine (It was a good experience, I learned a lot)" said Neil.
"Yeh tho bohuth hi achchi jail hai, AC hai, McDonalds se burgers mangva sakthe hain, bohot hi aasan hain yahan rehna (This is a nice jail, it's got an Air Conditioner, you can order a burger from McDonald's. They have it easy here," he added.
"It's a very educational film, it's a different concept and idea. It showcases today's problem of the country. That is why we have to get people over here and spread awareness about the film we are making," said Bhandarkar.
The director also addressed his tiff with the Censor Board as they wanted him to delete scenes that contained obscenity, like Neil's full frontal in particular.
"The swear words have been edited. There was a full frontal nudity of Neil's which has been blurred. They were not happy so we blurred it again and they gave us the U/A certificate. Nothing major has been cut," said Bhandarkar.
Jail releases on the November 6.
