Jaipur: Lawyers who have been on a strike in Jaipur since Wednesday clashed with police for the second consecutive day on Thursday. The police had to resort to teargas shelling after lawyers pelted stones.
Lawyers in Rajasthan have been up in arms against the state govt demanding better pay, cheaper homes and quicker allotment of government accommodation.
The Rajasthan Bar Association called for an indefinite strike and reportedly 30 lawyers were injured in the clash on Wednesday. "We demand action against the Police Commissioner B L Soni who ordered lathicharge on the lawyers. We were peacefully marching but they instead of stopping us lathicharged and targeted all," Rajesh Pareek, a lower court advocate said.
After the incidents on Wednesday, the advocates announced to go on indefinite strike. Almost 5,000 lawyers from different district were the part of the agitation.
