Jaipur: If you are still trying to deal with Holi inhibitions, here is a dash of the Jaipur therapy for you that might just work — even if a bit of it is borrowed all the way from Barsana.
At the Barsana bamboo bash at a three hundred-year-old Krishna temple in the Pink City, Krishna devotees are having a great time.
And they won't just boo you if you shy away from playing Holi. They will sort you out one way or the other. So if you have too many tantrums about playing Holi or fancy yourself as high brow or have a stiff upper lip, beware. The gopis, straight from those Braj stories come armed with some mighty tall bamboos here.
But if the Holi high still refuses to take a beating for you this is what awaits you — generous flower showers unique to the Holi celebrations here.
A participant at the bash, Dipika says, "I've never played Holi. This is the first time and I have really enjoyed it a lot. Holi full of flowers and songs is the best."
And here is why the unique tradition of playing Holi with flowers has been here for years now — when it comes to playing Holi with Lord Krishna, people like to put tender flower petals to some good use, to ensure they do not hurt baby Krishna. And that's not all.
Jaipur-based artist, Rekha Saini says, "Flowers signify life unlike anything which is dead, so we offer flowers to Lord Krishna on Holi."
Some fresh and fragrant flower petals this Holi in the company of Baby Krishna and his entourage, at a hidden cost of a bamboo or two are just what you might want to try out this Holi.
