New Delhi: In a tragic story case of corporal punishment from Jaipur, a ten-year old girl, who was the daughter of a CNN-IBN Citizen journalist, has succumbed to cancer. She had lost partial vision after her teacher beat her for not doing her homework. CNN-IBN had first shown Piya Chaudhary's story in 2010.
The wound in her eye developed into a cancerous tumour due to severe blood clotting. Two years later, in July this year, she finally got justice after the High Court pulled up the State Child Rights Commission and school authorities on the issue.
Following the CNN-IBN report, the school had apologised for the incident and paid Piya's family Rs 15 lakh in compensation. But sadly, she passed away in Jaipur on Friday.
